Do you need a personal trainer for your web marketing and social media?

I know, this guy should be on the left because of the way he's facing. I just didn't like the way the words wrapped. Sorry! Most of the people I talk to about web marketing are excited by its promise: increased visibility, traffic, and leads. What’s not to like?

A lot of them are also excited by the opportunity of sharing their expertise, helping people and growing their business.

So why do so many of them fail at it?

It’s been a question that’s plagued me for years. We build a site, set up a blog, and help someone get started on Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn. There’s an initial burst of activity, and then…nothing.

The excuses are varied.

  • We got busy…
  • I can’t find the time…
  • I’m not sure what to blog about…
  • No one responded to my tweets…
  • I don’t know what to do…

What I finally realized was that a lot of people need a guide to help them succeed with web marketing and social media. (File under “duh.”)

What people need is a personal trainer for their web marketing.

In fact, as I’ve started throwing around that phrase—personal trainer for web marketing—I keep on hearing, “yes, that’s exactly what I need!”

A few years ago my wife bought me some sessions with a personal trainer for my birthday. (Nothing says, “I love you, but you could stand some improvement,” like the gift of a personal trainer.)

I had been going to the gym on and off for years, but I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. It only took a few sessions with a personal trainer to change the way I approached my workouts and what I ate.

Those few sessions helped me create more effective workouts and develop better eating habits that helped me reach my goals.

They gave me a new excitement about hitting the gym. I found lots of healthy food choices that I actually enjoyed eating! And in just a few weeks, I started losing weight and getting in the best shape I had been since college.

In short, I had achieved better ROI (return on investment) in weeks by hiring a trainer than I had in years of trying to go it my own at the gym.

Some people just need to be pointed in the right direction. Others need weekly sessions with their trainer to keep them motivated and on task. There’s no “right” way to go about it, and a good personal trainer will tailor your fitness regimen around your needs.

Is the Personal Trainer approach to Web Marketing right for you?

Some people are “naturals” at web marketing and social media, just like there are people who instinctively know the best workouts for their body type, the perfect diet to drop unwanted pounds, and when to switch things up for maximum results.

We call those people jerks.

For the rest of us, we either need some initial direction or we need ongoing support and regular feedback. And that’s where our flyte training program comes in.

Here’s what you get from flyte training:

  • Strategy: A customized strategy based upon your industry, audience and business goals.
  • Plan: A six-month plan with a different focus for each month that helps you prioritize your activities and not get overwhelmed.
  • Tactics: Specifics on how to get more engagement on Facebook or to build your email mailing list. Step-by-step instructions on QR code marketing campaigns, YouTube marketing or webinars that drive traffic to your site. Guest blogging opportunities that increase your visibility and establish your credibility.
  • Feedback: Reviews of your blog posts, tweets, and other activity with suggestions of how to make them even more effective.
  • Content: Everything from conversation starters for Facebook to keyword-rich blog posts and everything in between, depending on your needs.
  • Reporting: a monthly spreadsheet of your activity and results across a wide variety of platforms. Monthly meetings and weekly phone calls with ideas, suggestions, and tips focused on increasing your visibility, driving more qualified traffic to your website, and converting that traffic into business.

In short, you’ll get a plan and help to execute that plan.

We’re going to train you how to think and act like a web marketer, and your business will never be the same. (In a good way. A really, really good way.)

Here’s what you put into flyte training:

  • Time: And/or money. Engaging your customers online takes time; time to blog, to tweet, to post videos. Time to listen and respond. That’s either time you spend or money you spend to hire someone to do it for you.
  • Resources: And/or money. You, someone on your team, or someone you hire has to create the content that’s going to rank high at the search engines and attract qualified traffic to your website.
  • Commitment: There’s no and/or when it comes to commitment.

A personal trainer can’t make you fit, he or she can only help you accomplish your goals. You need to want to get fit, and be willing to commit the time and resources to get there.

If you’re ready to make the commitment to your own success, and want a partner—a personal trainer—to help you get there, let us know.

To start, we’re taking on just 10 businesses, people or non-profits that are committed to their online success. If you think you’re ready, then please fill out the application form. We’ll follow up with you with more details and pricing.

At flyte, we don’t build websites, we build businesses…and we want to help you build yours.

Rich the problem isn’t the money. The problem with most of this is execution and time! Most small businesses just don’t have the time to keep someone on top of it.

I hear you. (Although the money is part of it, too!)

Part of having a good content strategy is creating quality content that will help your ideal customer and then knowing how to get that message in front of them.

I’m all about maximizing your return on investment.

For this particular program we’re looking for businesses that can dedicate 3 – 5 hours / week, but we’ve definitely worked with clients who can’t give that much time commitment.

Here’s another aspect of it, though: I hear from plenty of people who say that they don’t have time to market their business, but they also aren’t getting enough new business.

If you don’t have time to market your business AND you aren’t getting enough business to succeed, then it may be time to re-evaluate what you are doing, and decide if it’s actually providing the needed ROI.

Maybe it’s time to stop cold calling and start blogging. Or stop going to networking events and join LinkedIn. Or responding to RFPs, and start creating videos that attract your ideal client.

Not saying you’re suffering from ANY of these items, but I know a lot of folks who are.
