The other day a client of ours wanted to know how she could fan a business page on Facebook from her own page…not her profile. Turns out it’s pretty easy…but that didn’t stop us from making a movie on how to do just that.

The way we figure it is, maybe a bunch of people don’t know how to do that. Who knows, maybe you just Googled “how to fan a facebook page from another facebook page.” If so, no worries; your secret is safe with us.

You can also watch How to Fan a Facebook Page from Your Fan Page on YouTube. It looks pretty much the same over there, but then you can watch videos like the intro to ABC’s Saturday night lineup from 1982.

I really like this video! The content itself is very valuable but I like the fact that you showed yourself in the beginning. I might have to “borrow” that idea haha

    Keep it up!

I agree with Darren. You may have missed your client’s objective.

Hi, not sure if I am missing the point. I have a business page set up – I dont want to link it to my personal account. Therefore I dont have the option to add a page at all. Must I link my personal page in order to do this??

Here’s my interpretation of events: 1) Like and favorite function differently, so when a person likes a business page, that business’s posts appear on the individual’s wall. 2) When a business favorites a business page, the favorite’s posts do not appear on the business’s wall. 3) However, visitors to the business page can see the business’s favorites. 4) I’ve added the Fan Page Notifier app, which lets me know when people have posted to the pages I’ve favorited. It’s the only useful thing I’ve figured out so far.

    Vanessa,

You will get more benefits from linking it to your personal account, but that link isn’t visible to anyone but you. If privacy is your main concern here, you should be all set.

You’d think this would be obvious but I couldn’t find the UI for it. Thanks a lot!

It does seem to change everyday, doesn’t it? Especially when we’re talking about Facebook. Let me know if you have any other questions, because I’m always looking for ideas to make how-to videos about. Thanks for stopping by!

I have the same question I could not able to “Like” other business Facebook fan page from my fan page, in fact the other pages does not have the like button while I am trying to like them. Please have a look at these. Thanks!

  • http://twitter.com/therichbrooks therichbrooks

    Diwakar,

That should work, but Facebook is often flaky, and the numbers don’t automatically get updated instantly. The other possibility is FB is only counting likes from profiles and not pages; not sure about that.

    Annmarilyn,

Without looking over your shoulder I can’t really know exactly what’s going on. Is it possible you already like that page?

  • Maisonmutt

You’re correct SOOOOoooo easy yet without your help I’d still be looking around trying to figure it out. Thanks!

Hi there, i was just watching this video, but it doesn’t help one bit. My daughters band made a page on Facebook, and would like to “like” the tv station and studio they’re connected to. When i log on their page as admin, i can’t see anywhere they can even search others on Facebook, let alone “like” something. It’s just a page, with no search box, no nothing. What did they do wrong ? can it be fixed at all ?

    kind regards

    Maria

Once you’re logged in as the PAGE (not as an ADMIN) just use the search box at the top of the page on Facebook to find the TV station page your’re interested in liking. Go to that page, and ADD PAGE TO FAVORITES.

That should be all you need to do. Hope that helps!

  • Rotnlab

This may be a stupid question, but I am new to facebook and having the same issue exactly.  I do not have a personal account and don’t see where I log in as the page and not the admin?

  • Dale and Jennifer Moran

I am running a PTO Facebook page.  I don’t want it linked to my account because I will want to transfer it to the next PTO board to run.  I don’t have a search bar at the top of the page when I log in under the page.  When i log in under my account then go to the PTO page, I still can’t like  the page????

  • Mrehm40

I’m having the same issue, we created a page for our center and we do not have a search field at the top so we are not able to look for other pages to like and even if I could get to another page the like button on that page does not appear for us.  Can anyone help because its driving me nuts

  • http://twitter.com/therichbrooks therichbrooks

I’m not sure why you can’t see the search field at the top of the page (in the blue bar?) but you can still navigate anywhere on Facebook and find pages and then like them.

You won’t be clicking Like at the top of the page, but there is a “like this page” option in the left column near the bottom of the page.

Of course, FB could change this tomorrow.

  • Cindy

I googles it and got you, thanks for the help. I will fan you as well.

  • dot

But Facebook says you cannot have two accounts. I created a business page without ever having a personal page and now its seems that I can have none of the advantages I would have had if I had a personal page then simply created a page for business. Why it is okay to have both the latter way and not the first, I do not know.

  • http://twitter.com/therichbrooks therichbrooks

Your business account SHOULDN’T count as a personal account, so you should be able to create a personal profile then link it as an admin to your business account. Good luck!
